In ice swimming, the cold is a challenge in itself. You’ll race in water between 0 and 5 °C under the international rules of the IISA (International Ice Swimming Association), with several distances to put yourself to the test.

Choose from events ranging from 50 to 1,000 metres across different strokes, or team up for the 4 × 25-metre Fun Relay.

A growing field, international success

Hungarian ice swimming is attracting more and more competitors, and our swimmers are proving themselves at European and World Championships. In 2024, 64 swimmers took part in the first Hungarian National Ice Swimming Championships at Lake Lupa. By 2026, the field had grown to 110 competitors at MOM Sport.

We organise our national championships under IISA (International Ice Swimming Association) rules. Our swimmers also win medals and record recognised results at European and World Championships held under the IISA and IWSA.

As Hungary’s competition framework took shape, the Hungarian Ice and Winter Swimming Federation (MAJETUSZ) was established in 2025, with NHVTE as a founding member. The next edition, the 3rd Hungarian National Ice Swimming Championships, will take place in February 2027. Join us at the start!
